Dartboards

Understand what a dartboard is, how to make one, and how to use it to fuel your project management.

Updated today

A dartboard is a container that holds tasks. Every task must live in a specific dartboard. Dartboards are a part of the Dart hierarchy and they sit within spaces. You can have more than one dartboard in a space to customize your project or team's organizational structure.

Creating a new dartboard

To create a new dartboard in an existing space, hover over the space's title (located in the lefthand column of any dart layout or view). A "+" icon will appear. Click on it, then click on "Create a dartboard":

A new dartboard will appear in your space. To keep the dartboard, be sure to enter a name:

Once you have named your dartboard, you can hover over it to find more "..." options, including the ability to rename or replicate the dartboard:

You can also change your dartboard's name and icon by clicking on either at the top of your dartboard:

Simply click on your new dartboard to go to it and begin creating new tasks.

Creating tasks and using AI in a new dartboard

A newly created dartboard (unless it is replicated from an existing dartboard) will look like this:

To start populating your dartboard, click on "New task" or try brainstorming with Dart AI via either AI Chat or the "Brainstorm" option in the center of the screen.

Moving between dartboards

Your various dartboards will be on the left side of your screen in the navigation area (under their relevant spaces) and will be marked with dartboard icons:

To move between dartboards, simply click on their titles (located in the lefthand menu).

Dartboard layouts

You can visualize your dartboard via four different layouts:

To change your layout, click on your layout options from the button located at the top right of your screen. This will reveal a menu of options that include the four different layout options:

You can further customize your dartboard by enabling filters and sorts.

Dartboard sharing and permissions.

By default a dartboard will inherent its permissions from the space that it is in. If a space is shared with the whole team then any dartboard in it will be as well. Alternatively, if a space is only shared with some specific people, any dartboard in that space will be shared only with those same people as well.

Making a dartboard public

Sometimes you may want to share the contents of a dartboard with people or stakeholders outside of the teammates in your Dart workspace. While you cannot directly make a dartboard public, you can accomplish this same goal by using views. The key is to first make sure that the dartboard (and all of the tasks it contains) is shared with your entire workspace.

To do this:

  1. Make sure the space that the dartboard is in is shared with "Entire workspace"

    1. You can replicate the dartboard and move its copy into such a space if needed

  2. Create a new view and set a filter to only see tasks from that specific dartboard

  3. In the sharing settings for the view, set it to public.

Now you can essentially share the dartboard (or more specifically the tasks within it) more broadly.

Deleting dartboards

To delete an existing dartboard, click on the dartboard's name at the top of your screen, and then choose delete. Alternatively, hover over the dartboard title on the left side of your screen in the navigation area to reveal the "..." icon, click on it to access the options menu, and click "delete."
