Google Sheets integration

Connect Dart to Google Sheets for seamless data tracking

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A Dart account with access to the project or tasks you want to use as triggers

  • A Google account with access to Google Sheets

  • A Zapier account (free or paid, depending on your needs)

  • A spreadsheet set up with headers for the data you want to sync from Dart

Log in to Zapier

  1. Go to Zapier and sign in to your account

  2. If you don’t have an account, click Sign Up to create one

Create a new zap

  1. From your Zapier dashboard, click Create > Zap (or the orange + Create Zap button)

  2. Name your zap in the top-left corner for easy reference (e.g., “New Dart tasks to Google Sheets”)

Step 3: Set up Dart as the Trigger

  1. In the Trigger step, search for and select Dart

  2. Choose a trigger event, such as:

    • Task created: Triggers when a new task is added in Dart

    • Task updated: Triggers when an existing task is updated

    • Explore other events depending on your needs

  3. Click Continue

Add a Filter

If you only want certain Dart tasks to be sent to Google Sheets:

  1. Press the + button below your Dart trigger step

  2. Choose Filter from the menu

  3. Set your filter conditions (e.g., only tasks from a specific project or with a certain status)

Add Google Sheets as the action step

  1. Press the + button below your filter (or trigger, if you skipped the filter)

  2. Search for Google Sheets and select it

  3. Choose one of these action events. Here's two examples:

    • Lookup Spreadsheet Row – Find an existing row in your spreadsheet based on a value

    • Create Spreadsheet Row – Add new task data to the next available row

  4. Connect your Google account to Zapier

Configure your Google Sheets action

  1. Select the sheet within a spreadsheet where your Dart task data should go

  2. Map Dart fields (e.g., Task title, Due date, Assignee) to the corresponding columns in your sheet

Example zap: List completed Dart tasks automatically in Google Sheets

  • This filter condition will only push completed tasks into your selected spreadsheet

    Dart filter conditions example

  • This will create a new entry in your selected spreadsheet. Take note to create your columns first before choosing your worksheet for it to load your columns

    Create a spreadsheet row

Test and publish your zap

  1. Click Test Action to send a test row to your spreadsheet using sample Dart data

  2. Check your spreadsheet to confirm the data appears correctly

  3. If the test is successful, click Publish to activate your zap

Your zap will now run automatically whenever the selected Dart trigger event occurs, keeping your spreadsheet updated in real time.
